The third-generation Yaris launched in Japan on 22 December 2010 as the Vitz and reached Australia at the July 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne. The 2017 to 2019 cars are the second facelift, released in Japan on 12 January 2017 and in Australia by March 2017, with a sportier and more rounded grille, a redesigned front bumper and Toyota Safety Sense standard on higher grades. It was built on a dedicated platform at Toyota Motor East Japan in Kanegasaki, Toyota Industries in Obu and Toyota Motor Manufacturing France in Onnaing.
