The N17 was first shown as the Nissan Sunny at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December 2010 and debuted in Thailand as the Almera in October 2011, with the same car sold as the Versa in North America from July 2011. It is based on Nissan’s global V platform and was built in Thailand, China, India and at assembly plants in Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Mexico and Brazil. Nissan Australia began importing the Almera in August 2012 with the 1.5-litre HR15DE and discontinued it in July 2014 on the back of low private sales.
